The junior exhibitors are the future of our sport. We believe it is important to offer events that they can compete in with other juniors as well as learn about the dog show world.
The Louisville Kennel Club was the 1st club in the country, in 2004, to hold a regional competition for junior handlers. This is now what the American Kennel Club calls the Limited Junior Handler Competition.
The Top 4 Junior Handlers of The Kentuckiana Regional Junior Handler Competition are awarded a COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP.
Juniors must reside in the states of Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia or Wisconsin.
A junior must have 2 Open wins with competition from January 31, 2021 to January 31, 2022 to qualify for the Regional Competition held at the Louisville Kennel Club Sunday Show in March 2022.
Get your qualifying wins now and we hope to see you competing with us IN March 2022!

**Due to Covid Safety issues, we WILL NOT be able to hold the events listed below in 2022. We hope to hold them again in 2023.
-The Junior Dog judging Competition WILL NOT be held in March 2022.** We hope to have it back in 2023. There is also a junior dog judging competition held at the Friday Louisville Kennel Club show. We have 4 or 5 breeds of dogs that an AKC licensed judge places 1st through 4th, just like they would in an actual dog show class. The juniors place the dogs the way they feel the judge would based on the merits of the dogs to its breed standard. It's a very educational and fun event for juniors, handlers and judge alike. We have exhibitors and judges volunteering to participate for the next year. This competition is open to anyone 9-18 years of age. It's FREE but you must register by the day of the show.
**Due to Covid Safety Issues -Meet the Breeds WILL NOT be held in March 2022** We hope to have it back in 2023. We also offer a Meet the Breeds during the Saturday and Sunday shows of the March Cluster, that a lot of junior exhibitors participate in to educate the general public about their breed of dog. This is another fun event that everyone gets a lot of enjoyment from.
If you have questions about any of these events, feel free to contact us.
